Oral Surgery in Albuquerque, NM
Most oral surgery does not require a referral. From surgical extractions and wisdom teeth to implant placement, our Albuquerque team handles these procedures in-house — with sedation options so the experience is far easier than most patients expect.

Surgery Without the Referral Runaround
Many general dental offices send patients elsewhere the moment a procedure turns surgical. That usually means a new office, a new set of X-rays, another consultation, and weeks of waiting before anything actually happens.
We do things differently. Dr. Rogers completed a residency at the University of New Mexico and holds advanced training in implant placement and oral surgery, so most surgical care happens right here — with the same team, the same records, and a plan you have already discussed.
Oral Surgery Procedures We Perform
Surgical Extractions
Removing teeth that are broken at the gum line, badly decayed, or below the surface.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Including impacted wisdom teeth that have not fully erupted through the gum.
Dental Implant Placement
Surgically placing the implant post that anchors your replacement tooth.
Bone Grafting
Rebuilding jaw bone volume so the site can properly support an implant.
What to Expect, Start to Finish
Every surgical case starts with imaging. Our cone beam CT scanner produces a full 3D view of your jaw, nerve position, and bone density, which lets your dentist plan the procedure precisely rather than improvising during it. You will see those images and understand the plan before anything is scheduled.
On the day of your procedure, we numb the area thoroughly and add whichever level of sedation you have chosen. Most procedures take under an hour. Afterward you will go home with written aftercare instructions, any necessary prescriptions, and a direct way to reach us if something does not feel right.
Recovery and Aftercare
Expect some swelling and tenderness for the first two to three days — that is your body healing, not a sign of trouble. Cold compresses, soft foods, and rest make a noticeable difference during that window. Avoid smoking and drinking through a straw, since both can disturb the healing site.
Call us if pain increases after day three, if swelling worsens rather than improves, or if you develop a fever. These are uncommon, but we would much rather hear from you early than have you wait it out.
Related Treatments
Oral surgery often connects to other treatment. If a tooth can still be saved, root canal therapy may be a better option than removing it. When a tooth does come out, a dental implant or dental bridge restores the gap. For specifics on individual procedures, see tooth extractions and wisdom teeth removal.
Cost & Insurance Factors
Surgical costs depend on the complexity of the case, whether bone grafting is needed, and the level of sedation you choose. Most dental plans cover a meaningful portion of surgical extractions and wisdom teeth removal. You will receive a written estimate before treatment, and we are happy to walk through insurance and financing options so there are no surprises.

Why Choose Desert Ridge Dental for Oral Surgery
Surgery is the point where trust matters most. Our patients tell us the difference is being walked through exactly what will happen, in plain language, before anyone picks up an instrument — and knowing the person performing the procedure is the same dentist they already see for checkups.
